God will not give you more than you can handle

21 Sep

God will not give you more than you can handle.

Have you heard that (or something similar) before?

I have. Many times.

Let me be clear: It’s wrong. Not true. A lie.

Many can’t handle it when…
A loved one dies.
They lose their job.
A relationship gets broken.
They get abused.
All of their life goes downhill.

You know what?

That’s ok.

What’s ok?

The fact that we can’t handle everything! Why? It’s proof of our need for God.

Will God give us more than we can handle? YES!

Only in Jesus are we able to do all things (Philippians 4:13).

Trust Him today.

Good call, Jeff. Thanks your your honesty. We can develop a broken theology about what God “will or will not allow” that can leave people feeling beat up and believing, “I must be out of God’s will because this bad thing happened.” Bad things happen because we are human…and we are frail in every measurement. But God’s grace IS sufficient. And he IS good. And he is NOT frail. That is the paradox we’re called to live with as followers of Christ.
