I almost posted a blog that I shouldn’t have.
What I was going to say was truth.
Complete truth. Biblical truth.
But, I was upset.
Many times, we post/say/communicate things that are true, yet come from the wrong motivation.
Truth motivated by anger, hurt, or bitterness does no good to anyone.
Paul says in Ephesians 4:15, “Instead, we will speak the truth in love…”
Only truth that is motivated by love will actually accomplish something powerful.
Don’t try to convince yourself that communicating truth is ALWAYS an expression of love. Instead of only asking, “Is what I’m saying true?”, it is always worth it to ask, “Is what I’m saying coming from a heart of love?”
That distinction makes all the difference in how we communicate and whether that communication is received well.
Sometimes…it’s just not worth it.
