Why not?

For years, I tried to connect with somebody who I wanted to start a friendship with. I saw this person at different times and our conversations were always great.

I thought that maybe God would open the door for the relationship to develop further. But, every time I tried to take a next step, it seemed like there was a closed door.

It’s not that this particular person was being mean to me…not at all! But, every step I tried to take to progress the relationship further always failed.

Have you ever had that situation?

I’ve also had the opposite! I have relationships with people right now that took very little effort to begin and maintain.

Recently, I was having a conversation with someone I know who had a really bad experience with the person I tried to develop a relationship with. This friend of mine talked to me about how they left their encounter really disappointed with the person.

Now, far from advocating gossip (!), this conversation with my friend made me think:

Is it possible that God never allowed the door to open in that relationship knowing that He would save me from disappointment later on?

After talking to my friend, I immediately became thankful, knowing that God is Sovereign over everything!

Sometimes the path that God has YOU on is not the one the other person is on!
