Growing Vegetables Part 3

2013-04-01 16.39.10

As you can see to the right of the radish, there are three small vegetables.

Those come from my tomato plant.

I walked outside to pull out one of the radishes in order to test it (I talk about that in Growing Vegetables Part I).  After pulling out the radish, I noticed three little small vegetables and realized that they had come from the tomato plant.

The only problem was, the plant was dead!

Or so I thought.

I had taken a look at the plant.   Everything looked dead to me.  It didn’t seem like anything had grown.

I guess I didn’t look close enough.

How many times do we do this in life?  We take a look at something and make an automatic judgment about its usefulness, its ability to produce, its viability, etc.

We do this with people all the time!  We look at someone and after an initial inspection we believe there is not much else that can be done with them.

Can I encourage you to do something today?  Dig deeper.  There is more beyond the surface.  There is more to see than what is on the outside.  There is more to observe than what we think is there.

There are times to say goodbye and times to let go.  But, there are also times to hold on.  That requires patience.  May we all be a little more patient in our dealings with others and with life!

There may be something waiting to come out that we haven’t seen yet!

Oh, and by the way, this was the first above ground plant that I planted that actually began to produce something.

Next time, I’ll get even farther!  Small victories!  Read about them here.
